My name is Elizabeth Cunha and I am the Founder and Executive Director of The Center for Dynamic Learning (CDL). The mission of CDL is to provide the community with access to creative, engaging, and innovative learning opportunities that foster the life skills necessary to succeed in an ever changing world. CDL is comprised of three distinct departments that combine to address the needs of the whole community. Traveling Theatre provides youth with artistic experiences to strengthen creativity, literacy, problem solving, and cooperative learning skills. Imagine Productions engages community members, both young and old, by providing a variety of arts experiences to create discourse that examines the societal issues affecting our everyday lives. S.L.I.D.E. (Science Learning Industrial Design Engineering) offers STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) inquiry based, exploratory learning opportunities for youth to gain foundational exposure to career and technical studies as well as workforce development training for adults to develop viable, competitive hands on skills in the industrial and mechanical fields.
CDL provides an innovative and unique approach to STEAM programming and has reached more than 4000 youth in over 14 schools statewide. From Artist-In-Residence placements to a variety of out of school time programs, the Teaching Artists of CDL provide more than just Arts training. Through incorporation of aspects from various artistic and educational models and a focus on the creative process, we ensure an enriching experience for all youth involved.
